She was a 1959 graduate of Pen Argyl High School and a 1994 graduate of Northampton Community College, where she earned an associate's degree in nursing.

Joan M. Gennusa, 71, of Pen Argyl, passed away Wednesday at St. Luke's University Hospital in Fountain Hill, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle against lung cancer.

After retiring from Gracedale, the Northampton County nursing home, she worked as a part-time school nurse in the Bangor Area School District.

She was a 1959 graduate of Pen Argyl High School and a 1994 graduate of Northampton Community College, where she earned an associate's degree in nursing.
