Jury selection has begun in the child sexual abuse trial of Jerry Sandusky, the Associated Press reports.Sandusky, 68, a former assistant football coach at Penn State University who was charged with sexually assaulting 10 boys over 15 years, arrived about 8 this morning at the courthouse in Bellefonte, Pa., according to the AP.
Twelve jurors and four alternates will be chosen from a pool of Centre County residents.
The selection will be done in three phases: a welcome from the judge, questioning in groups of about 40, and individual meetings with the judge and attorneys, the Patriot-News of Harrisburg is reporting this morning. The jury pool has been narrowed from 600 to about 220 via a jury questionnaire, the newspaper reports.
