Formula One racers compete against some of the world's fastest drivers, but can they handle New Jersey roads?

World Championship racer Sebastian Vettel plans to drive a 3.2-mile course in Weehawken and West New York between noon and 2 p.m. today, to demonstrate the planned route for next year's Grand Prix of America race.

Some roads will be closed near the northern New Jersey waterfront as Vettel shows off the route. But vehicles parked on the streets won't have to move.

Race organizers say the roads aren't properly surfaced yet for Vettel to take the kind of car that can reach speeds up to 200 mph. He doesn't plan to exceed 40 mph during the test run.

Auto racing officials and Gov. Chris Christie in 2011 announced a 10-year agreement.
