While the defense will try to raise jurors' doubts, it's the accusers' credibility that could sway the case. Administrators could face more charges, according to NBC. The judge gave directions to jurors.

Opening arguments began this morning in the trial of former Penn State University assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, who is accused of sexually abusing several boys over several years.

The Sandusky case led to the firing of long-time Penn State coach Joe Paterno.

The jury of seven women and five men was chosen last week. Eight of the 12 jurors and two of the four alternates have ties to Penn State.

Sandusky was in the Bellefonte, Pa., courthouse by 8:15 this morning, the Associated Press reports. The courthouse bell rang at 9 o'clock, indicating the beginning of the trial, but there is no live reporting from inside the courtroom, the Patriot-News of Harrisburg reports.

The judge began the morning with about 25 minutes of instructions for jurors, the Patriot-News reports.
"As you look upon yourselves, you are men, women, older, younger, Penn State faculty and Penn State students," Judge John M. Cleland told the jurors, according to the newspaper. "You have all read and heard things about this case. Some of you are football fans, some of you could care less. You are, in short, a cross-section of the citizens of Centre County. You are a jury of the defendant's peers."
As the prosecution gave its opening statement, photos of the alleged victims as smiling boys were shown to the jurors, CNN reports. Sandusky looked up at each photo and then lowered his eyes, CNN said.

We'll update as more information becomes available.
