Lewis takes over for former Just Born Inc. executive Matt Petronio, who has left the board.
Drew Lewis was appointed chairman of the board of directors for United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, according to a news release.Lewis has served on the United Way board since 2002. He replaces previous chair Matt Petronio, a former Just Born Inc. executive who retired from the board.
“I am honored to serve in my new role as chair,” Lewis said in a statement. “The United Way’s board is made up of a very talented and dedicated group of community volunteers, who are committed to ensuring that everyone in the Lehigh Valley has the opportunity for a good life. I look forward to working with my fellow board members, volunteers, partners and the staff.”
Lewis, of Easton, is vice president of business development in Automatic Data Processing’s small business services division. Other private sector experience includes jobs at Air Products and Chemicals Inc. and financial services company Ernst & Young LLP. Lewis is also former director of Community and Economic Development in Northampton County.
“We are so pleased that Drew Lewis is our new board chair,” said Susan Gilmore, president of the local United Way, in a statement. “His energy, passion and strong belief in the mission and work of the United Way (are) outstanding. We are excited to begin our next phase of growth under Drew’s strong leadership.”
Lewis received a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a master’s degree in business administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Based in Allentown, the local United Way board on May 22 re-elected to the following to serve a second three-year term:
- Todd Donnelly, Viamedia; Dennis Hower, Teamsters Local 773; Ross Marcus, Northampton County; David Noel, Dual Temp; and Jane Stone, Highmark Blue Shield.
- Susan Hoffman, Lehigh Valley Health Network; C. Russell Mayo, Allentown School District; and Dr. Joseph Roy, Bethlehem Area School District.
- Paul Farr, PPL Corp.
- Wendy Born, community volunteer; and Eduardo Eichenwald, Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp.
