Weis Markets Inc. has begun a price freeze on more than 1,000 items for 100 days, according to a news release.The Sunbury, Pa.-based supermarket chain, which operates stores in the Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey, says the price freeze is in recognition of the company’s 100th anniversary.
“We have locked in long-term savings for customers through long-term deals and strategic buying that will help minimize the impact of commodity inflation in the months ahead,” Kurt Schertle, Weis Markets Executive Vice President of sales and merchandising, said in a statement.
The price freeze, the ninth since 2009, runs through Oct. 20. It includes grocery, frozen, dairy, meat, health, beauty care and general merchandise.
