Power restored to some in Lehigh Valley, New Jersey - UPDATE

Thousands of Lehigh Valley residents are in the dark this evening following a swift-moving thunderstorm that took down and scattered power lines throughout the area.

Some Lehigh Valley residents have had power restored following a swift-moving thunderstorm that took down and scattered power lines throughout the area.

PPL is reporting 1,397 residents remain without power in Northampton County. About 12 customers have been restored. In Lehigh County, 3,019 customers have been restored with about 260 customers remaining without power.

Jersey Central Power & Light spokesman Ron Poirier said about 2,000 Hunterdon County customers remain without power and about 700 have been restored. In Warren County, 300 customers remain without power.

Poirier said crews would be working throughout the evening to restore power.
