Nutrition bars recalled over possible salmonella contamination

Four varieties of nutrition bars were recalled today due to the risks of nuts contaminated with salmonella, according to a news release.

Creative Energy Foods' thinkThin Crunch bars in mixed nuts, white chocolate dipped mixed nuts, chocolate dipped mixed nuts and caramel chocolate dipped mixed nuts are subject to the recall, according to Giant Food Stores.

There has been no report of illness from these products, the store reports, but consumers should discard any unused portions of these products. Customers can bring their purchase receipt to Giant for a full refund.

All of the bars were 1.41 oz varieties with best buy dates prior to July 2013.

Salmonella infections can be life threatening, especially to people with weak immune systems.
