At 7 this morning, 4,104 customers were still out in Warren and 9,518 in Hunterdon on the 11th day since Superstorm Sandy left the region.

Power restoration continued to pick up pace in the past 24 hours as nearly 3,000 more Warren County customers and 2,500 more Hunterdon County customers are now out of the dark, according to JCP&L figures.

At 7 this morning, 4,104 customers were still out in Warren and 9,518 in Hunterdon on the 11th day since Superstorm Sandy left the region. A power company spokesman said Thursday that 1,000 extra linemen joined the effort on that day alone.

About half the Liberty Township customers who were without power Thursday morning now have it as the number dropped from 775 to 383, while in Harmony Township the figure plummeted from 818 to 106. Mayor Brian Tipton reported just before 9 this morning that that number had fallen to "about 20." "It looks like we're in pretty good shape," he said today. The mayors of both communities on Thursday were looking to the weekend for all power to be back on.

Freylinghuysen Township, at the top of the county, was having the worst of it with 582 customers still out this morning.

Hunterdon County, which had more than 52,000 customers out on Oct. 30, is finally below 10,000. Readington Township was much improved as its number fell from 1,452 to 755, but Raritan Township was still struggling as the figure only dropped from 1,520 to 1,223.

Tewksbury Township still had 1,585 out, while Clinton Township had 922 and tiny Bloomsbury still had 297 customers without power, although many may not actually live within the borough's borders, an official said. Bloomsbury's elementary school was not on the list of school closures this morning, but no one could be reached there this morning by phone. It had been closed for several days after the Oct. 29 storm and was waiting for the Army Corps of Engineers to install a generator which could put students back in school on Monday.

In an undated post on Bloomsbury's website, Mayor Martha Tersigni reports she has talked to JCP&L and two circuits at the Hawks-School House Road substation were out. No wire or transformer work had been done by the time of mayor's posting, but it was expected to begin soon. Power was expected back by Sunday, she said on the site. The mayor did not immediately respond to an email seeking more information.

In Clinton and Glen Gardner, fewer than 25 people remained without power.
