After raising her family, Paulus and her husband owned and operated The Midway Inn in Hellertown, from 1975 to 1978.
She later worked as manager of Orr's Monocacy Room Restaurant until 1993 when she became Infant Room Supervisor at Creative Kids Club, where children and parents called her "Mammy Gale" until she retired in 2002.
