A high school teacher in Monroe County is charged with having sex with a 15-year-old student in 2011.
Forty-year-old Christopher Martinelli is a social studies teacher at Pocono Mountain West High School in Coolbaugh Township. The school district learned of the allegations Tuesday and reported Martinelli to Pocono Mountain Regional Police.
Police interviewed the boy, now 17, then arrested Martinelli at his Tobyhanna, Pa., home.
He was arraigned today on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors. He's in Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $200,000 bail.
It's not clear if he has a lawyer. A message left at his home was not immediately returned.
Martinelli has been suspended by the district.
