The Obama administration this afternoon will reject a company's application to build the Keystone XL pipeline, which would bring Canadian oil into the United States, according to a breaking news alert from the Washington Post.

TransCanada will be allowed to reapply when it reroutes the oil sands project around the sensitive habitat of Nebraska's Sandhills, sources told the Post.

Deputy Secretary of State William J. Burns will make the announcement after Congress mandated a decision be made by Feb. 21.
