A spring opening is targeted for a store at routes 248 and 33.

Picture this, camera buffs: Photography business Dan's Camera City plans to add a location in Lower Nazareth Township this spring.

Allentown-based Dan's said it will open a new store at Routes 248 and 33, next to Cici’s Pizza and Saladworks. Customers have requested Dan's expand for years, co-owner Mike Woodland said.
“We have seen our customers dealing with more traffic and less time to get everything done, and we want to make sure Dan’s is easily accessible for more residents of the Valley,” Woodland said in a statement. “We're not taking this step lightly. Most stores with multiple locations do not come close to Dan’s level of service and expertise. That's why we're taking our time and sweating the details.”
Dan's marketing director Jeffrey Hall said today the business expects to open in May though a date is not set. The store will be based in the strip mall near Sonic Drive-In restaurant.

Hall said the Lower Nazareth site was attractive given that region's growth plus the business's need for a second location in the eastern part of the Lehigh Valley. With more roadwork planned for Route 22 this spring, Hall said Dan's believes this location will be more convenient for many customers.

The new site will include a portrait studio in addition to a retail area selling cameras, equipment and photo services.

The retail area is about 3,600 square feet, slightly smaller than the Allentown store, while the studio will occupy a separate 1,600 square-foot site. Photography classes will be available at the new site.

An unveiling for the new location is set for 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

The Lower Nazareth store will employ about 20 workers. Dan’s employs 90 at its West Fairmont Street location.
