Northstar New Jersey Lottery Group will handle sales and marketing of the lottery. About 60 state employees will lose their jobs.

New Jersey has signed a contract to outsource part of the state lottery operation and collect $120 million from the vendor as part of the deal.

The deal was announced today.

A consortium called Northstar New Jersey Lottery Group will handle sales and marketing of the lottery.

Northstar has promised to bring the state $1.4 billion to $6.9 billion in extra revenue over the 15-year contract.

About 60 state employees will lose their jobs. Treasury spokesman Bill Quinn says many will get offers from Northstar and the state would try to find other jobs for the remainder of them.

The Communications Workers of America had sued to try to stop it. A court ruling last week allowed the state to move ahead with the contract.
