High winds and heavy rain raced through the Lehigh Valley about 5 p.m.
After a brief storm swept through the Lehigh Valley this evening, tree branches and power lines wound up on the ground, which has left many Met-Ed customers without power.
Mark Troutman, an external affairs officer of Met-Ed, said there is a broken pole causing a power loss for about 500 customers in Upper Nazareth Township. Troutman said power should be restored by the end of the night.
In the Bangor area, there are about 100 customers without power, Troutman said, and power should be restored by the end of the night.
In other parts of the area, there were several reports of downed power lines in places such as South Whitehall Township and Lower Milford Township, said a Lehigh County Emergency Dispatcher, but it couldn’t be confirmed how many were down or the severity.
Tree branches and wires were down in places in Northampton County as well, said Northampton County Emergency Dispatchers. Though dispatchers said it was nothing major, there was a concentrated amount of power lines down in the Nazareth area.
