The 24-year-old Stroud Township man was in possession of 'large amounts' of heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine, authorities report in a news release.

A suspected member of the Bloods street gang was arrested Sunday in Stroud Township and found to be in possession of "large amounts" of heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine, the Monroe County District Attorney's Office and Drug Task Force reports in a news release.

Evan Watkins, 24, of Stroud Township, also had two cellphones and $6,000 cash at 3:30 p.m. when the vehicle he was driving was searched in Blue Mountain Lake Estates, authorities said. A cocaine and heroin transaction was about to commence when authorities closed in, according to court papers. The drug deal was planned via cellphone for near a playground, and the location was chosen by Watkins, court papers said.

Watkins was on bail and awaiting sentencing for receiving a stolen firearm, the task force said. He was driving to the bus station to catch a ride to New York, court papers said.

After Sunday's stop he is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance -- he had 110 folds of heroin, 40 bags of cocaine and crack cocaine and a bag of marijuana in plain view -- criminal use of a communication facility, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license, which expired in 2008, authorities and court papers said.

He was arraigned Sunday night in front of District Judge C. Daniel Higgins Jr. and sent to Monroe County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, the task force said. A preliminary hearing is scheduled 10 a.m. Friday in Higgins' court, court papers said.

The Monroe County District Attorney's Office was planning to file paperwork to get the bail revoked on the weapons charge, the news release said.

Pennsylvania state Police and the Stroud Area Regional Police Department assisted in the arrest, the task force said.
