UPDATE: Most Lehigh Valley customers expected to regain power this evening, providers say
Thousands of residents are in the dark across the Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey.
About 15 Northampton County customers are without power and no outages were reported in Lehigh County, according to Metropolitan Edison’s website.
According to PPL Electric Utilities' website, about 3,586 Northampton County customers and 523 Lehigh County customers were reported to be without power.
According to Jersey Central Power & Light's website, about 100 Hunterdon County customers and about 100 Warren County customers lost power.
There have been numerous reports across the Lehigh Valley of downed wires and trees. Pennsylvania State Police in the Bethlehem barracks said a tree fell about 6 p.m., closing off the Fullerton exit on Route 22 eastbound. Crews were expected to remove the tree within the hour and clear debris.
