Ulysses 'Slime' Rodriguez is accused of shooting 21-year-old Tyree Wimberly on Jan. 26 in Bethlehem near the club.

The alleged gunman in a shooting death near an Allentown strip club is heading back to the Lehigh Valley to face charges.

Ulysses "Slime" Rodriguez, 20, waived his extradition hearing, Chief Deputy District Attorney Jay Jenkins said today.

Jenkins added he didn't know when Rodriguez was scheduled to be transported, but that once Rodriguez returns to the Lehigh Valley a hearing will be held within a day or two.

Rodriguez, whose last known address was in the 900 block of Walnut Street in Allentown, was arrested last week in Suffolk County, N.Y., after almost a year on the run.

Rodriguez is accused of shooting 21-year-old Tyree Wimberly on Jan. 26 in Bethlehem near Scoobies Gentlemans Club. Police say Wimberly, struck multiple times in the chest, staggered toward the club, which is just across the Bethlehem city line in Allentown.

Rodriguez allegedly offered Wimberly marijuana at Eaton and Club avenues, around the corner from the club at 2327 Hanover Ave. in Allentown. Wimberly declined and a confrontation ensued.

A witness told investigators Rodriguez pulled a handgun from his waistband before putting it back and walking toward Scoobies when he suddenly pulled it back out, Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin previously said. The witness then heard several shots.

Scoobies representatives have said Wimberly was not in the club and that the club had nothing to do with the shooting. Police have said Rodriguez was in the club before the shooting.

The club caught fire in March in a blaze that fire officials say was intentionally set. No arrest has been made in the arson.
