Lehigh Valley school districts listed on AP District Honor Roll

At least two districts from Hunterdon County also made the honor roll.

Four Lehigh Valley school districts are among 40 in Pennsylvania to be listed on the College Board's fourth annual AP District Honor Roll.

At least two districts from Hunterdon County also made the honor roll with 36 New Jersey districts listed.

The districts were honored for increasing access to Advanced Placement coursework while also maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP exams, according to the College Board.

Easton Area School District officials made the announcement of the district's listing at a meeting last week.

Superintendent John Reinhart said it is a great pleasure to be honored especially as it is a tough time for public education given the economy.

"I think that this will help to underscore the fact that people at the high school are indeed trying to raise expectations for kids," he said.

Board President Frank Pintabone said being recognized is a "great thing for our kids and it shows that they've been working hard.

"It's a good reflection of our staff, our students and our district," Pintabone said.

The Nazareth Area, Parkland and Northwestern Lehigh school districts in the Lehigh Valley and Delaware Valley and Hunterdon Central Regional high school districts in Hunterdon County also made the list of the 477 school districts from the U.S. and Canada.
