On Saturday, a man robbed PNC Bank in the Hillcrest Mall on Route 22 in Lopatcong Township, authorities said.
Described as black, between 40 and 45 years old and wearing a dark-colored jacket and winter hat, the man entered the bank about 11:40 a.m. and indicated to the teller he had a gun, although no weapon was displayed, according to emergency reports.
The man made off with an undisclosed amount of money, reports said.
It was the second PNC Bank in Warren County robbed in recent months. In August, a man described as being in his 20s told a teller at a Route 57 branch in Mansfield Township that he had a weapon and left with an undisclosed amount of money.
Police ask anyone with information to call Lt. John Serfain, of the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, at 908-475-6637 or Lopatcong Township police Detective Doug Moyle at 908-859-1212.
Upper Macungie Township police said they believe the same man was responsible for the robberies about 1:15 p.m. Nov. 19 at Bank of America, 7720 Main St., and just before 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at Fogelsville First Niagara Bank, 861 N. Route 100.
In the more recent robbery, police described the man as white, 25 to 40 years old, wearing a tan sport jacket over a light blue shirt, blue jeans and a blue New York Yankees baseball cap. He was last seen with a single-strap, tan-colored satchel over his shoulder getting into what appeared to be a later-model silver, four-door GMC Sierra or Chevrolet Silverado full-size pickup with a factory sticker on the rear side panels reading “Z71.” It bore a stolen Pennsylvania license plate: JKE-5651.
Police offered a similar description of the perpetrator in the Nov. 19 holdup, adding that he stood about 6 feet tall and had facial hair.
In both robberies, the man threatened to use, but did not display, a weapon, police said. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken in both robberies, according to police.
