Northampton and Warren counties are forecast to see 4 to 8 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service, but Lehigh County is only forecast for 2 to 4 inches.
UPDATE: Lehigh Valley forecast grows: 6 to 10 inches of snow expected
The Lehigh Valley region is seeing a split forecast for the storm expected to hit Thursday night.
Northampton and Warren counties are forecast to see 4 to 8 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service, but Lehigh County is only forecast for 2 to 4 inches.
The weather service says a winter storm watch is in effect for Northampton and Warren counties from Thursday night through Friday morning. Not so in Lehigh County. (A winter storm watch means there is the potential for significant accumulations.)
Regardless, snow is expected to start in the form of showers or flurries during the day Thursday, with the heavier snow coming later in the evening, the weather service says.
Because the temperature will be so low, the snow will be dry and puffy, making it prone to drifting, the weather service says. In Easton, Thursday night's low is forecast at 11 degrees Fahrenheit. And Friday will see a high of 15 degrees and a low of 0. (Yes, zero.)
AccuWeather is also giving a slightly different amount for Easton vs. Allentown. That forecast agrees that Easton will see 4 to 8 inches. But it forecast 3 to 6 inches for Bethlehem and Allentown.
