Mount Olive Township police officer and Flanders woman hospitalized after two-car crash

The police officer was transported by helicopter to Morristown Memorial Hospital. The Flanders woman was treated for non-threatening injuries, police say.

A two-vehicle crash in Flanders this morning sent a Mount Olive Township police officer and a Flanders woman to the hospital, Mount Olive police report.

Officer Marianne Wurtemberg
was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital via a medical helicopter, according to police. The other driver, Danielle Lalonde, 32, was transported to the hospital for a non-serious injury, reports say.

At the time of the crash, Wurtemberg was traveling north on Route 206, and Lalonde was heading east, crossing Route 206 from Flanders Netcong Road, according to police. Wurtemberg's patrol car and Lalonde's Honda Civic collided at the intersection of Route 206 and Main Street, reports say. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation and calls to police regarding the victims' conditions were not immediately returned.
