They were chosen out of a pool of more than 15,000 students who were finalists in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program.
High school students from the Lehigh Valley and northwestern New Jersey were among the close to 1,000 nationwide who are receiving National Merit Scholarships of $2,500 apiece.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the
recipients this morning. They were chosen out of a pool of more than 15,000
students who were finalists in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Those finalists were judged by a committee of educators based on a number of criteria including academic record, standardized test scores and essay writing.
