The previous intraday record was 14,198.10, which was topped at 9:33 this morning. Nasdaq hits a 12-year high.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit an all-time intraday high at 9:33 this morning as the market opened well up and soon surpassed 14,198.10.
It quickly clicked above 14,200 for the first time. It went past 14,250 by 10 o'clock.
Today's surge beat the previous intraday high set Oct. 11, 2007. It fell to a low of 6,469 on March 6, 2009, during the Great Recession.
The all-time high close is 14,164.53 on Oct. 9, 2007.
Next on the agenda is the S&P 500, which this morning was about 40 points below its all-time intraday high of 1,576.09 (Oct. 11, 2007) and within 30 points of its all-time high close of 1565.15 (Oct. 9, 2007).
The Nasdaq hit a 12-year high today and was at 3,219 just after 10:30. It's intraday high was 5,132.52 on March 10, 2000, during the tech bubble, and its all-time high close was 5,048.62. Within a little more than two years it crashed to an intraday low of 1,108.49 on Oct. 10, 2002. It recovered to more than 2,800 in 2007, but dropped back to 1,265 in March 2009 and has been working its way back ever since.
